6 months! Wut?!?
Stats: Weight, 19 lbs. 3 oz. Height, 26 inches. He’s holding steady. Apparently breast fed babies start to taper between 6-9 months. Dr. M. said that their charts start to have a sine curve. He’s in the 75% percentile for weight–that’s a first!!
This month has been a fun one. Ben tried his first solids. We’re doing Baby Led Weaning which means two things. First we need to move dinner time to a reasonable child time. It’s 8:30pm and we just finished eating. Since Ben was born, we’ve been cooking and eating after he goes down, which is usually between 6:30-7:30. One of the biggest things about BLW is that the baby decides what/when he will eat. So we need to provide Ben with opportunities for this. Second, Ben eats what we eat. So we’ll just offer him what we’re having for our meals. His first taste of “solids” was Red Kuri Squash soup. He was confused. Second, he had a banana–he was unimpressed. He’s grabbed for a banana again, but he continues to be unimpressed. I think he was texting with his friend A who also does not like bananas. 🙂He’s also sampled oranges, which he loves, apples (also a fan, so much so that if I try to eat it myself, he gets mad and starts screaming), ragu and noodles (he just sucks on them) and a little Danish. Here he’s enjoying some orange at breakfast. You’ll notice that these great aden & anais burp rags have transformed into bibs! New moms, I HIGHLY recommend these. They have them on babysteals.com a lot and they’re pretty cheap there. Plus, you get a twofer: burp rag and bib.
We can’t wait to set Ben up in his high chair so he can sit with us. Next week with my mom should be lots of fun!
In other news, we got a Bumbo so he can practice sitting up. He likes to sit up, but it’s a bit hard to get a picture of him doing so because he falls over still! He hasn’t started crawling forward yet, though today he started getting up on his knees and rocking. He’s totally obsessed with the mobile Lois brought him back from India and every time I change him, he stares at it intently. He wants to grab it, but I only let him graze it gently. Here he is enjoying a private concert courtesy of papa. Isaac pulled out his trombone last week and Ben seems to like it alright, as long as it’s not too loud!Naps are pure, unadulterated hell right now. I don’t know what’s going on, if he’s teething or what, but we’ve transitioned him out of the swing/swaddle combo and he was fine for about a week. Since Friday, we’ve been struggling. Bed time is fine, so I just don’t get it! We’re still working on it, so we’ll see how it goes!
As usual here are some fun shots from the past month. Can’t wait to see what B has in store for us for month 7!The sweetest corn!Best picture of the month! We’ve been watching Sons of Anarchy and Isaac put his cap on Ben and said he looks just like Ope!
I call this his Mr. Rogers lookDoes Magnum like me yet??
