California Trip Part 1
Home, sweet home! Ahhh, California, how we miss you so! We’ve been looking forward to this summer vacation since before Ben’s birth. So that we could bring Magnum with us, we decided to split the clan: Isaac and Magnum drove whine Ben and I flew. This meant that Ben and I spent 5 days without papa–whoa, single parenthood must be tough–and also that I flew with a 3.5 month old by myself. It was actually MUCH easier than I expected and Ben was a total trooper. He didn’t cry at all! Here we are snuggle up on the plane together:
The hardest part of the tip came after the flying. Our flight from San Francisco up to Arcata was cancelled. While Ben didn’t cry, mama sure did when we found out that we wouldn’t be able to get out of SF until the next morning! Luckily, we ended up tagging along with an older lawyer couple from New York who also had to be up north. The car ride was interesting: rental car companies provide carseats but they are quite possibly the WORST carseats in the history of carseats. Poor Ben cried a ton, but luckily I was able to get him to sleep for most of the 5 hour trip to Ferndale. We finally arrived at almost midnight: 6 hours later than we were scheduled to arrive. Sweet Isaac, though, had chocolate cake (for our 4th wedding anniversary made courtesy of Maren & Hannah) and Rosé. Love him!
On Saturday, Ben met all his cousins and aunts and uncles and was reunited with Gramma! The next few days were filled with adventure, exploring, and lots and lots of good food. Every minute was jam packed, and we Tubbs wouldn’t have it any other way! *except for maybe sometimes 😉
